So my first blog post, now I had planned something completely different, however I was so excited about this, I just had to talk about it.
For all you NYX lovers great news ahead!!!!
So let’s take it a couple years back, I was first introduced to this brand by Sammi from TheBeautyCrush (link to her YouTube channel is below), she was wearing the NXY Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo. I fell in love with it instantly and had to get my hands on it. Now if you remember some time ago Next used to stock NYX products, so off I went to explore, however the Next I visited did not stock the Matte Lip Cream, but I did buy the Xtreme Lip Creams. I went back some time after to purchase more products, but was told that they no longer stock NYX products and there were no other retailers stocking NXY. Although NYX was available to purchase online, I refrained from doing so because I wasn’t sure whether the products I was buying would suit me.
So fast forward to present day, I went into Boots to pick up a couple of things, just before they were about to close on Saturday, WHEN I SAW IT!!!! If you could have seen the amount of excitement on my face, I was like a child on Christmas day. YES there it was A BIG NYX COUNTER, and I do not mean the regular ones you see for the “drugstore makeup” I mean an actually concession counter like the ones for high end products. They have a huge select of products, from contour products to different brow products, they have a huge lips and eye shadows section.
SO WHAT DID I BUY????
Although I had been wanting to get my hands on their lip liner for some time now, but as they did not have a lot of testers out, I decided to leave this until the next time I visit. What I did were two single eye shadow pans, an eye shadow pallet and an eye lash curler.
The eye shadow pallets are designed to hold the single eye shadow pans so you can customise your pallet. The one I bought is the 9 shadow pallet and I paid £4.50. The quality of this pallet is amazing for what you pay, I especially like the little finger space in each shadow slot, which allows you to remove each eye shadow without damaging the actually eye shadow. It has a magnetic back which holds all the shadows in place and also closes with a magnetic click. Material wise, it is hard /thick card but quite strong, it does not have a mirror, but that does not bother me.
The eye shadows are priced at £2.50 each, for the price I think they are really good, pigmented and you get a lot of product. The colours I bought are (from left to right) No 38 Stiletto and No 28 Guilt Trip. What I find charming about these eye shadows is the fact that they also have French names which are the English translation or vice versa.
The eye lash curler, are priced at £5.00, I do not use eye lash curlers much, but for the price I thought it was good, does the job.
One more thing, I did a NXY thick paper carrier bag on my purchase, which I thought set the brand slightly apart from the normal drug store makeup brands. Not sure if this is a one off marketing strategy or a permanent thing.
If like me you also like NYX products I suggest visiting your nearest boots to see if they too have a counter like this one. If you have visited one of these counters in Boots or any other shops for that matter, please leave a comment below and let me know and tell me what you have bought.
Until next time
